I really enjoyed Pastor Jason’s message this past Sunday on the reality of spiritual warfare. Spending an entire year writing a book on spiritual warfare has made me so aware of the topic, and yet, I am like anyone else, because I often forget about the battlefield.
Just this past week, I was getting ready to film some videos about my book and actually had a video team come out to help me. But in the weeks leading up to our filming day…things started to happen that were very frustrating. Emails were missed with important info, filming days had to get postponed and rescheduled, and then, even on the way to actually doing the videos, one of the team members got stuck in an hour’s worth of traffic.
I didn’t realize I was operating on a spiritual battlefield until just a few days ago…until I started to trace the fingerprints of the enemy. He was in a mode of discouraging me and this entire team so that these videos would not even happen. And yet, I had a hard time realizing it.
We all find ourselves in these situations, right? And often times, we don’t want to give too much credit to the enemy. We think, oh it’s just a bad day, or this just fell through the cracks, or this kind of thing always happens…but if there are patterns of warfare, we have to take note and realize it!
I really resonated with Pastor Jason’s analogy of how people act differently when they are on the battlefield. They don’t simply walk around — they walk with intention. And we must also walk with intention as we step into a battlefield every single day.
This morning, as I finally realized I was in the middle of spiritual warfare, I prayed over the video team. I am sharing this prayer with you in the hope that it gives you the same template to pray over your friends, small group leaders, or people within the body who you know are also under attack. Our prayers in this area make a world of difference, and the Lord is ready to stand in and fight for us!
Dear Jesus,
I’m starting to see the spiritual warfare that has been happening around these videos. There is intense discouragement, and postponements, and things falling through the cracks. Lord, none of this is a coincidence to you. God, whatever the enemy is planning here, I pray that you would thwart those plans and bring them to a stop in the name of Jesus Christ. There is power in your name, and I speak it over the filming today, over the technology, the content, over the team, and over me and my family. You are a good, good Father, and I know you will see this through!
In Your Name I pray, Amen.
